Health can be extremely complex, however when you focus on the fundamentals then your body will heal itself. The key is creating the perfect environment so your natural inbuilt healing mechanisms can work.
After literally taking every supplement known to man over the past 20 years as a passionate health advocate, eventually you learn a thing or two about what works and what does not. They say
‘practitioner heal thyself’
and I would have to agree with this statement. Trail and error has allowed me to better understand my own body and its weaknesses, then be able to apply the same principles to educate others.
Health and vitality and disease are all linked to energy. Not the amount of energy you have to function on a daily basis but your internal cellular energy. If you have good cellular energy production, you will be healthy. It’s that simple but not necessarily that simple to obtain. But this is the goal……to improve cellular energy production.
If your cells have sufficient energy production to meet its needs and beyond it will stay healthy and function optimally. This will lead to an absence of disease and a slowing of the ageing process.
There are three types of energy that need to be stimulated and enhanced.
- Chi: Chi is the invisible energy flow in our bodies that has been described as our life force and used for centuries by Chinese and Indian doctors to restore health. Although difficult to quantify, chi is a very real substance in our body that influences our bodies function every second. Chi circulates through the body and can be measured through meridians or energy pathways and give the body a source of electrical nourishment. When this energy flow is reduced or obstructed then disease will manifest.
- Electrical energy: Our bodies produce their own electricity from energy with every cell in the body containing its own electrical charge. A healthy cell operates at 50 to 70 millivolts whereas a cancerous cell operates at a charge of approximately 20mv. In other words it is very inefficient.
- Mitochondrial energy: This is the energy produced from food. All food is broken down into glycogen which then the body uses to produce something called ATP or adenosine triphosphate. For every 2 molecules of glycogen the body will produce about 32 molecules of ATP which the cell uses for energy.
So these three forms of energy are complementary to each other and are needed in abundance to facilitate good health. The key is to support your bodies internal environment to allow it to produce abundant energy. This is the secret of health. Lets have a look at how to do this.
Everyone knows diet is critical to wellbeing because it provides the body with the raw materials to produce glycogen which is used to make energy. A diet that is balanced in terms of good carbohydrates, protein and fat is crucial.
You will note a I say GOOD forms. There are good and bad of all food groups but fundamentally any food which is unprocessed is good and anything that has been processed unnaturally is bad. It’s fine to manipulate foods such as fermentation but this is a natural process as opposed to breaking food down into concentrated elements is not good or even worse synthetically engineering a food source such as artificial sweeteners.
Toxins from any source whether it be diet, lifestyle, environment or even metabolic wastes are the enemy of cellular energy production. When toxins accumulate in tissues, on receptor sites, in fatty tissues and circulating in the blood then energy cannot be produced efficiently because they disrupt many of the bodies natural communication systems and enzyme systems. This is why it is so important to cleanse toxins to allow the bodies hormonal system to work properly.
Toxins are a natural part of any existence so the key is to minimise exposure but also to ensure the body can deal with these toxins on a hourly basis. The body has an internal protective antioxidant system to deal with toxins however when it is overloaded it cannot work efficiently and a build up occurs. This very same system the body uses to heal itself however this again cannot happen when there is a negative ratio of toxins to antioxidants. Hence why I constantly recommend a diet high in antioxidants.
Finally toxins must also be broken down and excreted via the liver and bowels. When this does not happen toxins recirculate and deposit in tissues. Especially relevant for hormonal conditions.
So part of restoring healthy energy production, regular cleansing needs to take place. Every six months you must give the body a rest with a completely natural diet and stimulate the body to release toxins. THE ENDOCRINE SYSTEM
Our endocrine system acts as the communications system for the body. These tiny glands manipulate virtually every function in the body. From digestion, the sleep, to immune function, to energy levels, to weigh management. Every function they control, so it makes sense to take the endocrine system into consideration.
Unfortunately for humans, the endocrine system is very sensitive to oxidative stress and external influences. Many people suffer from some degree of endocrine imbalance and the system works as a unit, not individual glands. The hormonal system is one such system that is intimately controlled and affected by endocrine balance.
The endocrine system also does not balance quickly by itself. Diet and lifestyle help however to restore health, supplements like Happy Hormones are needed to accelerate the balancing process.
There are two biochemical states that your body needs to produce sufficient energy and I talk about them often because they are crucial for long-term healing and wellbeing.
- Acid/Alkaline balance
Your body needs a mildly alkaline state to function correctly. Diet is the largest influencer of the acid/alkaline state. Basically meats, sugar, processed foods and fats are acidic. Vegetables, grains and fruits are mostly alkaline. So it’s a pretty easy thing to program your diet to be fundamentally vegetarian, unprocessed foods with small amounts of lean animal protein to maintain balance. Unfortunately most people consume diets which are too acidic.
2. Oxidative balance
Our bodies as mentioned need a positive antioxidant load to be able to deal with daily toxins and heal itself. When antioxidant levels reduce, toxins need to be stored and cannot be broken down and when antioxidant levels are high the body will signal its own internal healing mechanisms to repair damaged tissues and dump accumulated toxins.

With this knowledge in hand we can then start to formulate the perfect prescription for energy production and vibrant health taking into consideration all these elements discussed above.
- Plant based antioxidant supplement
I specifically mention plant-based antioxidants here because they simply work better and are recognised by the body better. The body will also only take what it needs and excrete the rest whereas engineered antioxidants such as glutathione and Super oxide dismutase are more forceful in their action. There are a range of herbal medicines which are high in antioxidants and a range of natural superfoods
2. Green powders
After taking every supplement known to man my favourite would have to be concentrated greens. Usually from sprouting grasses such as wheat grass and green barley as well as algae such as spirulina and chlorella. They all have one thing in common. Chlorophyll. Chlorophyl is identical in structure to haemoglobin in human blood except it contains a magnesium centre where haemoglobin contains iron. So it’s basically plants blood.
Chlorophyl keeps the body’s blood and circulatory system clean and flowing properly. It basically mops up all the daily metabolic wastes keeping the system clean. At the same time it encourages a healthy pH.
Green powders also provide a wide range of necessary vitamins and minerals which may be lacking in the diet. They act as natural multivitamins and minerals.
3. Essential fatty acids
A common deficiency are a mix of essential fatty acids. It is difficult to obtain enough healthy essential fatty acids from the diet so sources such as flaxseed, evening primrose oil and krill oil or fish oils are needed to help regulate inflammation levels. Another important aspect is each cell membrane in the body contains fatty acids so when deficient the body cannot assimilate nutrients correctly across the cell membrane.
